I graduated from University in 2012 with a First-Class Honors Degree in Creative Writing and loved every minute of it. However, I was too ready to live my life to continue with a Master’s. So I left my home in England to travel Europe and write my first novel, which a publisher picked up in 2015.
I taught Creative Writing, English Literature, and English as a foreign language. Things changed in 2016 when I considered using my writing skills for work, which I was hesitant to do initially, always writing novels and poems in my spare time.
In 2016, the Swedish Creative Agency, Bonne Marque, hired me. Within six months, I became Creative Director, and within my first year, I became a Partner in the business. I credit my smooth transition to two things: the founder of Bonne Marque had great faith in my abilities, and instead of changing myself to adapt to the industry, I carried my creative principles from my experience as a novelist into advertising and marketing, bringing something new to the scene. Why fit in when you can stand out?
And now, I’ve spent a third of my life writing for other people, agencies, and brands, and I love gifting words to those who prefer to express themselves through different mediums. Some people are visual thinkers. Others are wildly creative. And some are analytical. I love to listen to people, take the time and effort to understand their brand’s personality and respond with the right words.
And what do I mean by the right words? The right words are always original, and they’re also familiar. Once clients read them, they think, “Yes, this is my brand, and it could never have been expressed in any other way. You found my words.”
